Description

The Smith Embark is a unisex alpine performance sunglasses engineered for use in high-UV, high-altitude environments including glacier travel, mountaineering, ski touring, and backcountry skiing. The frame is made from Smith’s Evolve material — a lightweight, durable polymer with 53% bio-based content. ChromaPop polycarbonate lenses are available in two configurations: the Glacier Photochromic variant, which adapts from 45% to 7% VLT based on ambient UV and visible light exposure with reduced temperature sensitivity; and fixed-tint ChromaPop polarized options including blue mirror, green mirror, bronze, and brown. All ChromaPop lenses enhance color definition and contrast by filtering specific wavelengths of light. Anti-fog and hydroleophobic coatings on the Glacier Photochromic lenses provide resistance to moisture, grease, and condensation.

The Embark includes removable, ventilated TPU side shields that block peripheral light during high-intensity alpine conditions and can be detached to increase airflow during sustained aerobic effort such as ski touring uphill. AutoLock hinges hold the frame open for one-handed on and off. Adjustable QuickFit temple arms allow the fit to be customized, and Megol rubber nose and temple pads provide a non-slip grip in wet or cold conditions. A goggle-inspired retainer strap is included to secure the glasses during technical ascents or high-speed descents. Each pair comes with a microfiber bag and a hard case.
